Social justice is topic of Fairlawn workshop
A workshop to help Christians explore how to live out God’s compassion will be at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 31 at St. Hilary Parish, 2750 W. Market St., Fairlawn.The workshop will be led by Jack Jezreel, founder and executive director of JustFaith Ministries in Louisville, Ky. Jezreel established the ministry in 1989 to help foster commitment to social justice. He subsequently developed a curriculum designed to help people recognize their connection to humanity and to empower them to respond to the needs of others.The workshop, sponsored by the Catholic Commission of Summit County, aims to give people an opportunity to explore the relationship between spirituality and social justice. The local commission, which is part of Cleveland Catholic Charities, hopes the workshop will lead to the organization of ecumenical groups committed to helping the marginalized.A light supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. Registration begins at 6:15 p.m. and the program starts at 6:30 p.m. The program is free.
